Ekene-The Hat Trick Hero
Ekene Jebefume is turning out to be a great striker. The young lad who leads the attack for Western College Yaba is making the headlines. He inspired his team to victory when he scored a hat trick against C.M.S Grammar School Bariga at the quarterfinal stage of the GTBank Masters Cup.
Ekene scored a brace before the 15-minute mark but Solomon Ademowo of C.M.S Grammar School also scored 2 goals before half time to make it 2-2. C.M.S substitute, Ifeanyi Oboduku scored in the last minute of game and C.M.S Grammar school looked poised to clinch the winner.
Ekene however gave his team a lifeline when his stunning free kick found the back of the net in added time and the game was all square at full time. During the penalty shoot-out, the hero’s name was resounding all around the Onikan Stadium as Western College students were chanting “Ekene!”, he calmly converted his spot kick after the final round of kicks and Western College moved into the last four.
Both Jebefume and Obi David of St. Gregory’s College now has 8 goals so far in this competition.
