‘I am not happy’- Folorounsho Aminat

18 MAY 2015

She has been an inspiration for her team throughout the season. Folorounsho Aminat led her school, CMS Girls Senior Secondary School, Bariga to the Semi-Finals of the GTBank-Lagos State Principals Cup through her unique style of play and goal scoring ability even as a midfielder. She scored two goals in the match against Girls Senior College, Agege in the quarterfinals and that gave them the Semi-Final ticket.

But all these was forgotten when they played Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu. The game was barren as both sides tried to score but could not convert their chances. Then the golden chance came for CMS Girls to take advantage when they were awarded a penalty in the second half. As expected, Aminat stepped up to take the spot kick only to blast it over the goal post as the game ended goalless at regulation time which took the game to penalties.

Again, Aminat took the first penalty kick and she also failed to make it count. Immediately she saw that she has missed another chance to put her team forward, she broke down in tears. After the match, when she was asked what happened she said “I don’t know what happened and I am not happy at all”.

CMS Girls lost to Oriwu 4-3 in the penalty shootout but they are going to play at the 3rd place play-off against Government Girls College, Agege.
