Ogun State Principals Cup Semi finals holds on Tuesday 5th May

30 APR 2015

The prestigious Principals Cup competition is at the semi finals stage, we witnessed exciting games at Onikan Stadium on Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th April with interesting goals scores. The train moves to Abeokuta on Tuesday 5th May for more ‘shocks’.

The Ogun State competition is in its 3rd season with 8 schools/teams in the semi finals stage.

Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School Ijebu-Ode is the only school that has consistently reached the last four of the GTBank-Ogun State Principals Cup since the competition inception three years ago. They came 2nd in the inaugural edition in 2013 but were knocked out at the semi-final round last year by Egba Owode Grammar School Owode Egba. They will be playing against Muslim High School Isolu Abeokuta tomorrow in this season’s semi-finals.

One can say however that St. Anthony’s Grammar School, Esure, Ijebu Mushin is the revelation of this season Ogun State Principals Cup. It is the only school that saw their male and female teams play in the knockout stages of the competition. Also, both teams did not concede a goal at the quarterfinals while scoring seven.

United Comprehensive High School, Wasimi, Abeokuta is another team to watch out for, they made a bold statement in the round of 16 by scoring 7 goals against their opponent while Muslim High School is a very determined and disciplined side.

It promises to be a day packed with exciting and thrilling display of skills and talents from the young football players who will be representing their schools in the semi-final round.
