Ogun State Welcomes New Faces

17 MAR 2015

One reason is that the usual contenders – Remo Divisional High School Sagamu, Alamuwa Grammar School Ado Odo and Adeola Odutola College Ijebu Ode in the Boys Category will not be playing in quarterfinals as they were eliminated at the preliminaries.

In the girls category however, Our Lady of Apostles Ijebu-Ode and Remo Divisional High School Sagamu have been consistent since the competition’s inception. Our Lady of Apostles were 1st runners up at the maiden edition of the competition while Remo Divisional were 2nd runners up. Both schools also made the semifinals in 2014 and have kept up with their pedigree by again advancing to the Quarter Finals this year.

This year promises to be more refreshing as new faces like Idomila Comprehensive High School Ijebu-Ode, St. Anthony’s Grammar School Esure, Ijebu Mushin, Itolu Community Senior High School Ilaro Yewa, Community Senior High School Tube Ipokia, Makun High School Sagamu, Ode Remo High School Ode Remo, Ikenne Community High School Ikenne, United Comprehensive High School Wasimi, Ajogbo Senior Grammar School Ajibode Ota,  Community Senior High School Yewa North and Muslim High School Abeokuta are some of the schools that will play at this year’s knockout stages.

Statistically, with the huge number of new schools involved at this stage, it points out to the possibility of a new champion in both categories, particularly in the boys section.

Furthermore, it is testament to the fact that more schools are getting involved and becoming more motivated to win the GTBank-Ogun State Principals Cup.

These schools will battle it out as the quarterfinals starts on Wednesday 18th 2015 at the M.K.O Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
