“Stay in School” – OGUN NYSC BAND BRIGADE
The fixtures attracted guests and spectators from the Ogun State Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sports, the State Football Association, National Youth Service Corps Band Brigade, and the interested public.
The NYSC Band Brigade added color to the games as they rendered reverberating performances to entertain guests and spectators on both match days.
Speaking on behalf of the band, the band leader Adeniji Samuel aka ‘Major’ said they are all in the band because of the passion they have for musical instruments. Major, whose place of primary assignment is the State Hospital said it was fun to perform at the Principals Cup.
He is of the opinion that the Band’s performance at the venue will motivate the students to stay in school, as a lot of the students want to be like them in the nearest future. According to Samuel, most of the students came to meet him to know how they can be a part of the band.
Another band member, Chiamaka Nwoisu commended the sponsors for their efforts in giving back to the society and using sports as the vehicle. She also mentioned that the initiative encourages students to be better at what they love doing.
Chiamaka who is currently serving at the Ministry of Urban and Regional Planning said she watched the girls’ quarter finals matches and noticed that the young girls have great talent. She also advised the students to “stay in school”.
The NYSC band did renditions of the National Anthem, Ogun State’s Anthem and other routines during the GTBank-Ogun State Quarter finals.
